More pictures

Here are some more pictures of Tyler. It's amazing how much he has changed in just a week. We went to the doctor today and he is healthy boy with a big appetite. Blake had his appointment too, he also is healthy, but the poor boy had to get shots.

We are glad that grandpa could come for a short visit.

I am so grateful for my mother-in-law who has taken two weeks to come out and help us. I would be going crazy with out her here. Blake is loving the attention he is getting from her plus she has made us some delicious meals and desserts!

Tyler Robert Backus was born September 22nd (his exact due date) at 9:29pm. Weight: 7lbs 8oz, Length:20 1/4 in. The day started off with us going to the hospital about 8:30 am (i had been having regular contractions since 4:30am) However, when we got there the nurse told us that I wasn't dilated and that I was only 30% effaced. So we were sent home. I continued to have contractions, and we went on several walks and ate Mexican food. At about 4:30pm my contractions were really hurting and we went back to the hospital, but I was afraid they would tell me that I wasn't dilated again so Matt and I walked some more around the hospital. At 5:45 we decided that it was time to go and check in again. We had the same nurse from that morning and she told us again that I wasn't dilated!! I was almost in tears. She said that she would get another nurse to check me just to make sure. Well, that nurse said I was a four!!! The doctor came at 8:45 to break my water and by 9:30 Tyler was here! We are so happy to finally meet him. We love him so much.

Well maybe not. Matt and I had another art date this Friday. Instead of doing a contest we decided to draw each other. I had to show you our wonderful artwork. (Hehe)

Ouch!

Wednesday night was spent in the ER. Earlier that night Matt and I had church meetings we had to be at. Since we both have to be there that means Blake comes with us too. This particular Wed. Matt was running late from work and didn't have time to change out of his dress clothes before we had to leave. It had also been raining all day long. We started heading down the apartment stairs. Well, wet stairs and dress shoes didn't mix well poor Matt and Blake fell down the stairs! Matt did the best he could to keep Blake from hitting the stairs, but Blake still smacked his head. Matt and I both started freaking out. Our downstairs neighbors come out to see if we were okay. Matt wasn't hurt, but we were both worried about Blake. Luckily he didn't bust his head open, but he had a huge red mark on his head and he started to act really drowsy and wanted to go to sleep. I knew that wasn't normal because he had just woken up from a nap. Thinking back to my girls camp first aid training I thought I remembered that you shouldn't let someone who just received a head injury go to sleep (the nurse at the ER said that was just a myth, but I want a second opinion from you nurses that are reading this). We got him in the car and not to long after he started to throw up. This made me really nervous and so we decided to take him to the ER. After waiting forever to get in the Doctor said he had a concussion and that we should keep an eye on him. I happy to report that Blake is doing just fine and the next day you couldn't even tell that he had been hit in the head. Matt and I are both paranoid about going down the stairs while carrying him now!

For Labor Day Weekend...

we decided to go to a swim park not too far away. It is only $4.oo a person and kids 2 and under are free. SWEET! At the park they have this whole section just for little kids. They have water squirting every where. Blake loves it there. His favorite part was the slide. He did it over and over and over (you get the picture)! I wish I could have gotten a picture of it but I had to be the one at the bottom to catch him. I'm pretty sure my camera would not do well with water!! We had so much fun. We all wished we could have spent more time there, but alas Matt had to get back to the law books.

That night we went to Burns Park for a picnic. Blake of course loved the slide there. Needless to say it was a great day. I thought it was so great that I told Matt that the only thing that would make the day even more perfect is if I had the baby

that night (No such luck)!

Here is what we've been up to

Matt: Has been staying busy as the Young Mens President of our church. They went camping at Buffalo River and had a great time. Last week he received two job offers and he decided to be a law clerk for a law firm in Downtown Little Rock. He started working this week and so far he really enjoys it. He also started his 2nd year of Law School this week and is enjoying that as well.

Blake: Has mastered the art of walking. His favorite thing is to go outside and walk around and look at all the plants and the water fountain out front. He is also trying to get the hang of using a sippy cup, it has been a little bit challenging but he is getting better. Blake also likes to take things out (like toys from their box, books from his book shelf, pots from the cupboards, and when mom's not looking trash from the garbage) and put them back, playing with daddy, and dancing with mommy.

Me: My stomach is continuing to expand in size and I can no longer see my feet! Being in the primary presidency has kept me busy, but I am enjoying serving the children in our ward. That is pretty much it for me. I'm just glad that everyday I get to be doing the best job ever, and that is to take care of Blake! (P.S. If anyone has any good suggestions on good activities for a one year old and that doesn't cost any money I would love to hear it. I think Blake is starting to get a little board of our usual activities).
